Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to conduct the day-to-day operation of a ride location. It requires a sound knowledge of operational, safety and emergency procedures, combined with some problem-solving skills to address typical operational problems associated with rides.The unit applies to the attractions and theme parks sectors, and to individuals, usually called ‘ride attendants’, who are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of rides. They apply some discretion and judgment to work activities and work under general supervision. Rides are sometimes operated as part of a travelling show or temporary attraction.No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. Skills must be demonstrated in an operational theme park or attraction. This can be: an industry workplace a simulated industry environment set up for the purposes of assessment. Assessment must ensure access to: operational rides and associated safety equipment ride loading documentation and procedures organisational policies and procedures: ride loading documentation or procedures safety procedures emergency procedures incident reporting templates commercially realistic numbers of customers customers with whom the individual can interact; these can be: customers in an industry workplace who are assisted by the individual during the assessment process; or individuals who participate in role plays or simulated activities, set up for the purpose of assessment, in a simulated industry environment operated within a training organisation. Assessors must satisfy the Standards for Registered Training Organisations’ requirements for assessors; and: have worked in industry for at least three years where they have applied the skills and knowledge of this unit of competency. |
